A Polish architect and conservationist, he led the Polish-Vietnamese Mission for the Conservation of Monuments in Vietnam from 1981 to 1997. His work was instrumental in getting the Old Town of Hoi An and the historical complexes in Hue and Mỹ Sơn inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
